How do you eat out and still stay on plaN?

With most places in the south serving up menus featuring triple fried pickles and salads that have more calories than the burger, it can be insanely hard to eat out and stick to your diet.

Being a Tallahassee native I have checked out almost every restaurant Tallahassee has to offer.

During that time I have figured out which places are great for your waist line and which places are a waste of time.

This article is written from the viewpoint of a Tallahassee personal trainer that has lost over 200lbs myself, and helped multiple clients lose 50-100lbs each.

Zoe's Kitchen

Healthy restaurants in Tallahassee

Zoe's is a go-to for me when I want something quick and healthy.

It's a bonus that most of it is Mediterranean inspired and if you couldn't guess by my name I am Greek AF.

Zoe's does an excellent job of providing you will a ton of options that will fit your diet plan and easily customization menu items. I highly recommend the chicken or steak kabobs when you go 10/10 flavor and it easily fits into my plan.

Bonus! They offer their nutrition information online. Check the menu out here.

Azu Lucy Ho's

Out of all the Asian restaurants in Tallahassee Azu is my favorite spot.

Featuring selections from sushi to classic Chinese dishes you should have no problem finding something you like.

I recommend the hibachi meal served with sauces on the side and steamed rice. You will get a plate full of yummy vegetables and perfectly cooked protein of your choice.

A good thing to keep in mind here is portion control especially with the rice Azu is very generous with their portions so opt to fill up on your protein and veggies first.

Check out all their tasty options here.

Canopy Road Cafe

Healthy restaurants in Tallahassee

For breakfast and brunch this is the place to be in Tallahassee.

On weekends the wait can be a little long but I promise its worth it.

Outside of the hearty scrambles and classic fry-ups they offer a wide variety of low calorie options. I usually get the "Doc's Usual" with fresh fruit.

If you are feeling frisky you can also build your own omelette with the option to have it made with egg whites. This is a great way to customize your healthy breakfast.

Cue Hannah Montana's Best of both worlds.

You can check out their menu here.

Backwoods Crossing

I tried this farm to table restaurant for the first time a few months ago and fell in love.

was pleasantly surprised with a menu filled with local ingredients and vegetables fresh from their own garden. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is always on point, with servers that can answer any question you have about the options available.

I have yet to find meal that makes me feel like I'm sacrificing a thing while staying on point with my diet.

They have a menu offerings that change with the season but their normal menu items are listed here.

Chipotle

Healthy restaurants in Tallahassee

Okay hear me out: I realize this is a chain but when you're in a hurry you really cant beat the simple selection of rice, protein, and veggies.

I love the fact that I can choose to make my bowl light on the rice and heavy on the protein with double chicken. You can see a trend here that I am a fan of my meals being made primarily with meat and vegetables--so far its worked pretty well for me.

Tip for keeping it goal friendly skip the chips and extra cheese and you are golden.

Check out their menu and nutrition info here.
